Going Back To Work

Just a few questions I have been wondering about.    1. When you went back to work, how did you keep yourself hydrated? I work in a job that I am unable to keep water with me at all times. Was your employer able to help you with that, or did you have to wait longer for you to go back so you wouldn't have trouble? 2. What was the reaction of your co-workers? Were they supportive about your choice to have the wls? Did they try to help you, in their own little way, before you had surgery? Did any one come to the hospital? 3. After your wls, did your bosses look at you in a new light? As if you were a different person now that you have had wls? Have any of you gotten a promotion since, that you were overlooked several times previously? Was more work given to you, to make you fail? 4. After you lost your weight, did any of your co-workers not associate with you as much, if they were overweight like you USED to be? These were just a few of the questions that have popped into my head over the past few days.  I am just really worried about staying hydrated after I go back to work.  I am unable to drink constantly, and was really wondering how much liquids you are drinking at 2 weeks out.  Thanks!
At Goal! 165 pounds gone forever! Thank you Lord!

Sorry, I was and Am able to have a drink at my desk.. so it wasnt a problem...Talk honest to your boss. tell him after WLS we can become dehydrated very easy.. I told mine when I had my knee surgery I needed to getup and walk around the building once in a while.. she said ok because it was medically necessary. People were wowed by me for a while because of the new clothes I could wear they would give me hand me downs and would say I want THAT out fit when it gets to big.. I was transfered to a new group that didnt know me before and well... when they found out they were wowed not imagining I could have ever had a 58 inch waist!! ( I am 63 inches tall) (almost as round as I was tall) Best of luck when you go back to work and remember it is normal to be tired.. you may need  to come home and nap for a week or so, Linda Kay

Lachelle 1.  If you have to you can get a perscription from your Dr. that states that you are to have liquid with you at all times.  Your employer will have to honor it.  2.  My Co-Workers were supportive,  They knew how bad i wanted to have the surgery and they were great.  They knew it was for my health and I needed to do it.  3.  My Boss was very supportive too, when i made the decision to do the surgery i ask her if i could talk to her in private, i told her of the medical issues i had been having and that i had seen a bariatric surgeon and was submitting my info to insurance,  she thought it was great that i was taking this step to improve not only my life but my career and work performance.  4.  My co workers still after 2 years and not much loss for several months, tell me how great i look, I think i am treated a little different by the general public too. i know some of it is my own attitude but it seems people are friendlier.  I still have heavy friends and they are very supportive, some of them would like to have surgery and some dont care to at all.  You will have many questions and thats a good thing, we have all had different experiences and you will feel better if you gather all the info you can.  Good Luck, Hugs, Carla
